Today, we’re excited to announce the successful acquisition and fit out of a state-of-the-art office transformation for Adyen, the financial technology platform. The four-floor, multi-functioning office space in Wells Mews, Fitzrovia, is now Adyen’s vibrant new London hub.

As Adyen sought to bring its team back together after the UK and London emerged from lockdowns, Making Moves’ Agency team played a crucial role in acquiring the ideal space – a converted carpark spanning 14,000 sq ft. Meanwhile, Making Moves’ Technical team expertly managed the fit-out, ensuring Adyen’s specific requirements were met without compromising on location or facilities.

With a prestigious clientele that includes Uber, Spotify, and eBay, Adyen needed a unique London headquarters that reflected its brand values. Wells Mews, a West End warehouse-style space, ticked all the boxes. One non-negotiable requirement was an outdoor terrace space, which Making Moves’ Director, Anthony Murphy, secured through a competitive long-term lease.

Katie Oakham, Office Manager of Adyen, said of the collaboration, “Working with Making Moves was a pleasure from start to finish. Globally, we have some great offices, and we wanted to make sure our London hub was up to scratch. Not only do we now have some incredible facilities, such as our fantastic gym, but every floor looks beautiful. Making Moves has allowed us to combine style and functionality in the very heart of the West End.”

The fit-out, created in collaboration with design and build company Modus, features thoughtful design elements on each floor, serving distinct purposes and functions. The top floor boasts a social and event space, complete with a terrace, bar, and game areas. On another floor, a client entertainment space includes a barista, high-performance meeting rooms, and areas to demonstrate Adyen’s payment products. Collaborative workspaces and booths create a dynamic atmosphere on the third floor, while the second floor offers a quieter setting with focussed meeting spaces, a library, and a gym.

Hamish Allan, Making Moves’ Director of Technical, explains, “The differences in the floors were purposeful and considered as a way to define functionalities and separate spaces for Adyen’s employees. This strategy is integral for offices in a post-pandemic world, creating a workplace that caters to all needs.”
