By Making Moves London

Mind, the leading mental health charity, is embarking on an exciting new chapter as it secures modern offices in Stratford‘s Olympic Park, with the expert assistance of the Making Moves London team. This multi-faceted deal involved the successful sale of Mind’s existing Freehold building on Stratford Broadway, followed by a seamless transition to a sub-leased space owned by Cancer Research UK. Making Moves’ dedicated team worked closely with Mind to create a dynamic and socially engaging workspace suitable for the post-pandemic era.

“We are thrilled to have been entrusted with the entire mandate to lead Mind to their perfect office space,” said Anthony Murphy, Director of Making Moves. “The sale of their previous office building achieved exceptional results, and we are honoured to support such a crucial charity in finding an ideal working environment for their important mission, especially in the current post-pandemic landscape.”

The journey began with a comprehensive Stay vs Go consultancy analysis. This involved a detailed workplace consultancy exercise to understand Mind’s unique requirements, followed by a technical due diligence exercise to assess the suitability of the existing office space for the proposed lease renewal tenure. A full market options appraisal was also carried out to explore various move opportunities for the charity.

Ultimately, Making Moves secured a sub-leased space owned by Cancer Research UK, strategically located in Stratford’s vibrant Olympic Park. The Making Moves Technical team collaborated with Mind to create dedicated zones tailored for collaborative work, focussed tasks, quiet areas, and wellbeing spaces, catering to the needs of a modern and flexible post-pandemic work environment.

Paul Farmer, Chief Executive of Mind, emphasised the importance of staff wellbeing in the wake of the pandemic and expressed enthusiasm for the move to the new office space. “Given the impact the pandemic has had on our mental health, staff wellbeing is a top priority for every employer, including Mind,” said Farmer. “We’re excited to be relocating our London-based staff to the Olympic Park in Stratford. This new office space will provide a safe, pleasant, and accessible environment conducive to productivity and creativity, as we transition to a hybrid working model.”

The new fully furnished office space in Stratford spans an impressive 20,000 sq ft and can comfortably accommodate 300 employees. The Making Moves Technical team played a pivotal role in reconfiguring the space to suit the new hybrid model of working, ensuring optimal productivity and employee satisfaction.

“We are delighted to remain in Stratford, which allows us to bring together our London-based teams in one building,” added Farmer. “Our previous offices were no longer fit for purpose, requiring significant repairs. With the move to Olympic Park, we also look forward to strengthening our relationship with our charity colleagues at Cancer Research UK.”
