Both Canary Wharf and Stratford have benefited from high levels of investment over the past few years. Stratford’s rise has been mainly due to the 2012 Olympics, which brought both monetary investment and awareness from across the globe. Now that the Olympics legacy has moved on, the area has been attracting office occupiers keen on limiting their exposure to rental levels seen in more central locations, whilst being able to offer staff all the amenities they would expect. This includes a mix of restaurants, one of the largest shopping centres in Europe and open space normally seen in a countryside business park.
Canary Wharf, whilst an established office location already, has seen further investment to improve both the retail and leisure facilities based there. This area has now become a destination in its own right. The area is also due to benefit considerably from Crossrail, which is due in 2018/19.
Local stations include Stratford and Hackney Wick. Journey Times from Stratford Station by Tube (ref TFL):-
- Liverpool Street – 10 minutes
- Bond Street – 22 minutes
- London Bridge – 20 minutes
- City Airport – 25 minutes
With an office in either Stratford or Canary Wharf, you will not struggle for things to do inside or outside work hours.
Canary Wharf has a varied mix of places for breakfast, lunch and dinner. From a cinnamon pastry at Ole and Steen to a bowl of Poke from Hawaiian specialists Island Poke, this area has you covered.
Stratford continues to develop as a place to not only shop but also to eat. The area benefits from canal side eateries including The Breakfast Club to the wide variety of restaurants included within the Westfield Shopping Centre (Levi Roots Caribbean Smokehouse being our top choice).
Our hidden secret…try Shane’s restaurant on the canal side of Here East. Good food, good host and known to turn into quite a party later on in the evening.
